All wellhead equipment should be manufactured, inspected and tested to the
appropriate ISO10423 (API Spec 6A) – Specification for Wellhead and Christmas
Tree Equipment. API Spec. 17D – Subsea wellhead and Christmas Tree
Equipment. For sour services, materials used should conform to the requirement
of standard ISO 15156 (NACE MR 0175) – Materials for Use in H2S –containing
Environment in Oil and Gas production.
Wellhead must have a rated working pressure that exceeds the maximum closed
-in wellhead pressure that may be anticipated during the life  of the well including
both drilling and production phases. Wellhead operations should have
procedures in place to ensure that pressure testing of wellhead components is
safely carried out and pressure properly bled off after pressure testing.
This is a component at the surface that provides the structural and pressure -
containing interface for drilling and production equipment. The primary purpose is
to provide the suspension point and pressure seals for the casing strings that run
from the bottom of the hole section to the surface pressure control equipment.

When drilling the oil well, surface pressure control is provided by the
blowout
preventer (BOP) to avoid blow out. Once the well has been drilled and completed,
the surface pressure control is provided by a
Christmas tree which is installed on
top of a wellhead with isolation valves and chokes equipment to control the flow of
well fluids during production. At Shorematter, we have competent team that
specialize in maintenance of both surface and subsea wellheads.
We are equally involved in carrying out inspection, maintenance and QA/QC of
wellhead components such as
casing heads, casing spools, casing hangers,
mudline suspension systems, tubing hangers with reference to the recommended
specifications and standards.
